Project Manager Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex projects and contribute to strategic national outcomes in the Defence sector.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing infrastructure projects on behalf of our client through all lifecycle stages, ensuring procurement activities comply with regulations, building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, managing project documentation and reporting, delivering projects on time and within budget, overseeing handover/takeover processes, and capturing and sharing lessons learned to improve future project delivery.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage infrastructure projects through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure stages.
* Ensure procurement activities adhere to Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
* Build and maintain stakeholder relationships through proactive engagement.
* Manage project documentation and reporting in line with Defence and APP Group standards.
* Deliver projects on time and within budget, focusing on risk management and continuous improvement.
* Oversee handover/takeover processes and ensure timely project closeout.
* Capture and share lessons learned to enhance future project delivery.
About the Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Engineering, or Construction Management.
* Current Baseline Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one).
* Proven experience managing construction projects, preferably in the Defence or Government sector.
* Familiarity with project management methodologies like PMBOK, PRINCE2, or Agile.
* Strong understanding of government procurement practices and compliance standards.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
