As Principal Business Officer you will provide financial management, corporate and business support services for QGSO. You will be the primary contact for all finance and business matters and will provide advice to the Government Statistician (GS) and senior management on these areas of accountability.
The Key Responsibilities
Manage the budgetary and financial operations of QGSO, including budget development and monitoring systems, monitoring of own-source revenue budget, reporting, advice, corporate cards, accounts payable and receivable, debt management, accrual management, procurement and use of corporate accounting systems.
Lead a small team of professional staff who provide support to the Office in the areas of financial services, human resources, executive services, health and safety, performance measurement, procurement, building services and corporate reporting.
Directly manage projects and complex compliance activities as they relate to the office, ensuring effective, efficient and timely outputs that satisfy office standards for integrity and accuracy.
Monitor, maintain and continually improve QGSO's business support procedures and processes to ensure the provision of timely, accurate and complete information that informs decision making and meets audit and compliance requirements.
Provide high quality technical advice and information to all QGSO staff on a range of financial, human resource and corporate issues.
Coordinate and prepare reports, submissions and correspondence relating to finance, human resource and corporate matters.
Represent QGSO on working groups and committees contributing advice and expert knowledge.
Identify and manage the development needs of staff, ensuring adequate training and development opportunities along with regular feedback on performance.
SUCCESS CRITERIA
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:
* Significant experience in developing and managing budgets, financial systems and processes
* Highly developed communication, negotiation and collaborative skills and proven ability to build relationships and interact positively with others across Government
* Experience in managing others
* Superior organisational skills and ability to deliver results even difficult circumstances.
