Do you like problem solving and analysis? Help contribute to our performance audit program in assessing how the government implements some of its priority policies and programs.

We are looking for

Someone who is committed to contributing to our vision of better public services, and our mission of independent and valued assurance and insights. You will bring an understanding of government and public sector operations, and ideally have experience in assessing government operations, programs and policies. You will have the ability to think strategically and a good analytical thinker, with strong client relationship skills. Your responsibilities within the performance audit team will include:

- leading fieldwork through analysis and evaluation of evidence to support the delivery of a diverse range of performance audits over the Queensland Public Sector
- undertaking research (such as analysis over policies, frameworks and better practice approaches), and interviewing a range of stakeholders to understand review topics and identify gaps and improvement opportunities
- preparing presentations for internal and external audiences and contributing to drafting of reports to clients
- contributing to a range of other deliverables and initiatives across the QAO, such as the forward work plan
- building capability and mentoring staff within the performance audit team

The Queensland Audit Office

As the independent auditor of the public sector and local governments, we are vital to Queensland’s integrity system. We provide independent, qualified audit and assurance services, giving parliament and the public trusted assurance and insights. We have hundreds of audit clients from a wide range of industries across the beautiful state of Queensland. We help them improve their financial management and performance, so they can deliver better public services for the community. We support the Queensland Parliament in holding entities to account for the effective, efficient, and economical use of public resources. Our Performance Audit function

Within the QAO, our Performance Audit team assesses how efficiently, effectively and economically the government implements its policies and programs. We work across a broad range of sectors and topics, providing the Queensland Parliament and the community with independent assurance over the performance of the government.

- A Brisbane based role with hybrid work arrangements – work from client sites, in the office and from home.
- salary commensurate with experience – $135,982 to $145,222 (includes 12.75% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading)
