Our Opportunity
HDR's Architecture Business Group has an opportunity for an Interior Designer with strong technical documentation skills and an eye for detail to join our Sydney studio.
To support our key sectors - Federal (Defence), Education & Science, Tech/Media/Telecom (Data Centres) and Healthcare - we are looking for a talented individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about design excellence.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to refine their craft, grow with global specialists and make a real impact on our communities.
As a Mid-Level Interior Designer, you will:
Collaborate across project teams and disciplines to develop creative, practical design concepts and solutions aligned with project goals.
Prepare, present, and document interior design concepts from programming through construction administration.
Participate in design reviews, maintaining a strong eye for detail and quality throughout.
Work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment—open to both mentoring and being mentored.
Advocate for design excellence and contribute to the studio's creative culture.
Engage in networking and business development opportunities to help grow our client base and expand HDR's impact.
Support and promote HDR's brand within project teams, with clients, and in the broader industry

About You
You will bring:
A bachelor's degree in interior design, or closely related discipline.
Typically, 3-6 years' experience in interior design and architectural documentation.
Strong technical skills and solid understanding of interior design documentation workflows.
Proficiency in Revit – required.
Experience with Rhino and Grasshopper is a plus.
Experience in Sketch up & Enscape - required
Experience using Photoshop & InDesign - required
A collaborative mindset and positive, proactive approach to challenges.
Passion for the sectors HDR Architecture is known for - Federal, Healthcare, Tech/Media/Telecom & Data, Education & Science is a plus
A proactive, adaptable working style and willingness to contribute across different sectors and project types as required.
Australian Citizenship (Baseline or higher Australian Government Security Clearance, or eligibility to obtain) - required.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture (from an accredited school) or closely related field
Experience with Microsoft Office programs
Skilled in Revit and Adobe Creative Suite
Have an interest in developing skills in team leadership, collaboration, mentoring, motivational/organizational and people skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
