Junior Building Designer / Draftsperson (Revit)
Third Element Studio is a growing residential & commercial building design and interior design practice based in Melbourne.
We specialise in residential renovations, extensions and custom homes, & commercial projects with a strong focus on thoughtful design, well-resolved documentation, and a structured studio workflow.
As our studio continues to grow, we are looking for a Junior Building Designer / Draftsperson to join the team and support project delivery across a range of residential projects.
You will work closely with our Senior Building Designer and assist in preparing planning and documentation packages while helping maintain strong documentation standards across the studio.
This role is ideal for someone with 2–4 years experience who enjoys documentation, is confident in Revit, and wants to continue developing their skills within a collaborative design studio.
The Role
You will support the Senior Building Designer across a variety of residential projects, assisting with documentation production, consultant coordination and general project support.
Your responsibilities will include:
Documentation Production
* Existing conditions modelling and documentation
* Planning permit drawing packages
* Preliminary construction documentation
* Assisting in concept design drawing preparation
* Revit model development and maintenance
* Assisting the Senior Building Designer with drawing production
Project & Consultant Support
* Assisting with obtaining consultant quotes
* Following up consultant information
* Assisting with organising consultants
* Supporting documentation coordination
* Assisting with drawing issue management
* Supporting client administration tasks
Studio Systems & Standards
* Maintaining Revit documentation standards
* Assisting with development of Revit templates and systems
* Supporting ongoing studio workflow improvements
About You
You are organised, detail-oriented and take pride in producing accurate documentation.
You enjoy working within structured systems and understand the importance of maintaining drawing standards across projects.
Essential
* 2–4 years experience in residential design documentation
* Strong Revit proficiency
* Understanding of planning and construction drawings
* Strong attention to detail
* Quick learner who follows processes and systems
* Strong organisational skills
Nice to Have
* Twinmotion experience
* Understanding of residential planning scheme requirements
* Experience preparing planning documentation
* Experience working within a small design studio
* Exposure to consultant coordination
