Position Information

Dubbo South Public School is a large primary school in the Western area of NSW with an enrolment of 590 students. We enjoy community diversity with 33% of our students identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 6% with a language background other than English. Our Support Unit consists of 2 multi-categorical classes and 2 Moderate, Intellectual Disability(IO)/Autism (AU) classes which provide support for twenty-nine students with disabilities. We have a range of experienced teachers and teams with expertise targeting student needs and driving improvement across all stages. Our quality teachers are committed to delivering explicit teaching in Literacy and Numeracy to improve learning outcomes for every student through promoting critical and creative thinking. Students are supported to drive and map their learning through social interactions and understanding of positive mental health strategies taught through the Grow Your Mind program. Advancement via High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) strategies promote a culture of high expectations, student wellbeing and academic achievement. Our school prioritises inclusivity enabling successful access to the curriculum, including culturally appropriate programs, for all students. We are focused on the delivery of rich, innovative, digital learning experiences, and engagement with new and emerging technologies, allowing our students to compete and flourish in their digital futures. Parent and community partnerships are highly valued. We promote collective responsibility for all our students through consultative, decision making practices. Our staff are committed to developing positive relationships with parents and carers. We aim to engage community in school life and to empower parents and carers to effectively support their children's learning at home and school.

Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach students with learning and support needs and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs in regular classes.



2.Well-developed interpersonal and organisational skills to engage with teachers, parents/carers and both internal and external agencies to promote student wellbeing.



3. Proven ability to design and deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching strategies, programs, resources and support plans that maximise learning outcomes for students with additional needs, whilst developing a culture of collaboration with colleagues.



4. Demonstrated ability to analyse and use student performance data to develop differentiated practice and student improvement, interventions and monitor progress.


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
