The Role
Reporting to the Senior Buyer, the Buyer in Training plays a key support role within the Buying Team. This position is responsible for managing development categories while assisting the Senior Buyer across broader portfolio activities.
Responsibilities
As Buyer in Training, you will contribute to efficient procurement operations and support the delivery of strong category performance aligned to sales, gross profit and stock targets.
You will provide:
* Buying support across development categories including product selection, post-seasonal reviews and go-to-market planning
* Assistance to the Senior Buyer with category management, analysis and administrative duties
* Supplier communication and relationship management across local and international partners
* Support with product sample reviews and order sign-offs
* Collaboration with Finance to ensure pricing accuracy and financial transparency
* Ongoing communication with Planning and Sourcing teams to achieve new product objectives
* Regular market reviews and sales performance insights to inform decision making
* Timely management of store feedback and internal ticket responses
* Proactive support to ensure stock turns, sell-through rates and aged inventory targets are achieved

About You
* Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Retail or a related field (desirable)
* Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret sales and performance data
* High attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills
* Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across internal and external stakeholders
* Commercially curious with a genuine interest in retail buying and category management
* Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams including Finance, Planning and Sourcing
* Proactive mindset with the determination to deliver outcomes in line with business objectives
