Join the Office of Industrial Relations finance team and help provide leadership in the area of financial accounting. You will be required to provide leadership, direction, guidance and day‑to‑day management of the Financial Accounting Team to ensure accounting standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide professional financial advice and develop appropriate financial management responses to key financial issues through submissions, recommendations, briefings, correspondence and reports.
* Examine and analyse complex financial matters and make recommendations as necessary, including undertaking analysis and financial performance across the organisation.
* Lead end‑of‑month activities and supervise end‑of‑year functions including review of accruals/journals, integrity of the ledger, GR/IR clearing, commitment reviews and responding to external audit requirements.
* Project‑manage on behalf of the Director (Finance Facilities & Procurement) ensuring project outcomes and deliverables align with divisional and agency timeframes and objectives.
* Provide leadership and management expertise which fosters innovation and ensures effective delivery of the division's business plan in the areas of financial planning and management.
* Develop, implement and maintain financial governance frameworks to ensure compliance with public sector legislation, standards, policies, practices and procedures.
* Lead, coach and monitor the performance of staff within the unit including the allocation of tasks to team members as required.
While not mandatory, it is highly desirable that applicants hold either a Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting and/or a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) qualification.
