Burlendi Youth Housing is part of our Youth Accommodation Services, providing 24/7 crisis residential accommodation for young people who are working toward independence. We are a child-safe organisation that values integrity, compassion, respect, diversity and collaboration.# **About the Role**We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Youth Worker to join our Burlendi team in Salisbury. Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent part-time position (0.8 FTE / 60 hours per fortnight).Burlendi is an onsite, crisis-residential service supporting young people with accommodation, safety, stability and independent living skills. The position works within a structured 4-week rotating roster, which includes:* Morning shifts: 7:15am – 3:15pm* Afternoon/evening shifts: 3:00pm – 11:00pm* Passive overnight sleepover shifts: 8-hour sleepover, finishing at 7:30am* Work across 7 days, including two weekends per month and a Sunday shift on the alternate weekend* 30 active hours plus 3 passive shifts per fortnight, with overtime paid in accordance with the SCHADS AwardThis is a dynamic, hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in crisis-residential youth work and is confident supporting young people with complex needs in a structured, onsite environment.# **How You Will Make an Impact*** Build respectful, trusting relationships that encourage participation, independence and self-determination* Support young people in crisis with safety planning, emotional regulation and practical guidance* Assist young people to develop independent living skills including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, healthy routines and community engagement* Contribute to case plan goals and ongoing assessment of safety, needs and progress* Support young people to access community services, counselling, therapeutic programs and specialist supports* Advocate for young people with government and non-government agencies* Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour or high-risk situations* Maintain accurate case notes, reports and documentation* Participate in handovers and contribute to continuous improvement# **What You Will Bring*** Diploma in Social Work, Youth Work, Welfare, Community Development or a related field* Essential experience working directly with young people in crisis accommodation, residential care, youth homelessness services or similar youth-specific environments* Strong understanding of youth homelessness, trauma, child and adolescent development and protective factors* Confidence in responding to challenging behaviour and supporting young people through crisis* Ability to work within a structured roster, including passive nights and weekends* Strong communication skills and the ability to build constructive relationships* Commitment to culturally safe, inclusive and respectful practice* Good organisational skills and confidence in documentation* Psychological/Psychometric Assessment (Children and Young People Safety Act 2017)* First Aid Certificate# **What We Offer*** Salary packaging benefits (up to $15,900 tax free) and Entertainment Benefit ($2,650 tax free)* On-call allowance paid in accordance with the SCHADS Award* Employee Assistance Program – confidential counselling service* Financial, retail and lifestyle discounts* Generous paid parental leave (12 weeks for primary carers), purchased leave options (up to 8 weeks), and 5 days paid leave annually to experience other Salvation Army programs* Discounted health and fitness programs through Fitness Passport* Up to 5 days paid leave per year to support a Salvation Army program or activity* A supportive, inclusive culture with passionate and dedicated team members* A deeply rewarding role where you can positively influence and support the development of young people's lives# **How to Apply**If you are committed to supporting young people through crisis and helping them build safe, stable and independent futures, we would welcome your application.
