Law Transport is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead day-to-day transport operations from our Townsville base, where the majority of our fleet, people, and customers are located.
This is a hands-on leadership role with clear accountability for safety, utilisation, service delivery, and operational discipline
Key duties
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager is responsible for the effective planning, coordination, and execution of transport operations, ensuring assets and labour are utilised efficiently while maintaining strong safety and compliance standards.
Key responsibilities include
· Lead daily transport operations, scheduling, and execution
· Maximise fleet and driver utilisation across the operation
· Ensure compliance with HVNL, fatigue, and WHS obligations
· Lead and performance-manage drivers and operational staff
· Manage incidents, damage, and non-conformances
· Control overtime, operating costs, and unplanned maintenance
· Work closely with Finance and Senior Management
· Drive continuous improvement and operational change
About You

You will bring a strong, practical understanding of transport operations and compliance, and proven experience leading medium to large operational teams through day-to-day delivery and change.

* Transport Operations
* Project Management
* Scheduling & Route Planning
* Sales
* WHS / Safety
* Auditing & Compliance
You bring a calm, decisive leadership style, strong problem-solving skills, and are comfortable being based in Townsville and leading from the front.
