Café Team Leader / Senior Front of House

Wild Thyme Café is a social enterprise owned by National Joblink, located in Cairns. It serves as a training restaurant that promotes social inclusion, connection, and cultural diversity through its programs. Every dollar earned from the café funds hospitality training for local students and NDIS participants. The café aims to create pathways to prosperity in the community by providing essential support services and opportunities for individuals facing barriers to employment. This role is a permanent Part-time position, Tuesday to Friday, Saturday hours may be added when Saturday trading commences.

About the Role:

Wild Thyme Café is a social enterprise owned by National Joblink. Every dollar we make funds hospitality training for local students, as well as NDIS participants and meals through Rosie's Food.

We are looking for a stable, reliable, and experienced person to join our team as a permanent part-time Café Team Leader.

This is not an entry-level role. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the café, supporting our kitchen team and casual staff, and supervising NDIS participants.

Key Responsibilities:

· Open and close the café on rostered days

· Oversee day-to-day front-of-house operations

· Supervise and support NDIS participants

· Assist the kitchen team with cabinet presentation and service flow

· Ensure customer experience is consistent, welcoming, and efficient

· Handle basic cash-up and end-of-day procedures when required (backup only)

· Work collaboratively with the Café Manager, Chef, and Kitchen Manager

Must Have:

Blue Card (Working with Children) – or willingness to obtain

Yellow Card (NDIS Worker Screening) – or willingness to obtain

Current First Aid Certificate (including CPR) – or willingness to obtain

Minimum 2 years café or hospitality experience

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

Desirable:

· Experience supporting people with disability

· Barista skills

· Leadership or team supervision experience

· Ability to problem-solve calmly under pressure

Today we provide a suite of services under the framework of Workforce Australia, are a specialised RTO, have a successful training restaurant in Cairns, a training café in Launceston, outdoor activities at our Tarkine Wilderness Lodge and a Driving School.
