Shutdown – FIFO Construction Project
The Role
Western Work Force is seeking an experienced S26 Mechanical Supervisor to lead mechanical shutdown and project scopes across BHP, FMG and other major resource sites in Western Australia (based ex-Perth). You will:
* Lead and coordinate a multi-disciplined team of fitters, pipefitters and mechanical trades through all shutdown stages—preparatory works, execution and handover
* Oversee rotating equipment overhauls, pump rebuilds, gearbox change‑outs, pipe spooling, structural steel reinstatement and small‑scale mechanical commissioning
* Manage permit‑to‑work processes, plant isolations and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures in strict compliance with client safety and isolation standards
* Conduct daily pre‑start risk assessments, toolbox talks and on‑site safety briefings to reinforce a zero‑harm culture
* Liaise closely with maintenance planners, site engineers and Construction Superintendents to align schedules, quality specifications and scope changes
* Monitor daily progress, maintain accurate site documentation and proactively resolve technical or logistical issues
Requirements
* Trade‑qualified Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Technician with proven supervisory experience in shutdowns or turnarounds on fixed‑plant/mining sites
* Valid Schedule 26 Certification and WAIO Mechanical Maintenance Safety Training
* Demonstrated ability to manage high‑pressure mechanical scopes under tight shutdown schedules
* Strong stakeholder‑management and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop trade teams
* Safety‑focused mindset with a track record of zero‑harm delivery
