The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.
The Opportunity
Join our team as a PO3 Electrical Asset Engineer and play a hands-on role in shaping and maintaining South Australia's essential electrical infrastructure. You'll work across a diverse range of assets including road lighting, traffic signals and Intelligent Transport Systems, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and fit for the future.
This role offers the chance to apply your technical expertise to real-world outcomes – analysing asset performance, improving asset management practices and supporting renewal and maintenance programs. You'll collaborate with maintenance contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver projects that keep our transport network operating efficiently and safely for the community.
About You
You are a practical and technically capable engineer with a strong understanding of road lighting, traffic signals and ITS assets. You communicate clearly, solve problems confidently and take a proactive approach to improving systems and processes. With experience managing complex projects, you apply sound judgement and analytical thinking to deliver reliable outcomes, even in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
Educational Qualifications/ Licences
* Degree in Electrical Engineering discipline providing eligibility for professional accreditation is essential.
* A current Driver's Licence is essential.
Special Conditions
* A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
* May be required to attend site visit on occasions.
* Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required
Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to two (2) years
Remuneration
PO3 - $101,285 to $107,078 pa + superannuation
