We are seeking an experienced Assurance Specialist to lead the development and implementation of a new Assurance Framework within a dynamic Commonwealth agency. This role is critical in enhancing grants management processes and ensuring organisational alignment with legislative and policy requirements.

* Contract Length: 6 months (with a possible 6-month extension)

Key Responsibilities
Duties
In this role, you will provide strategic insight on assurance processes and drive the development of essential methodologies. Your duties will include:
* Framework Leadership: Leading the development of the assurance framework, including principles, policies, and guidance materials.
* Authoritative Advice: Providing expert guidance on assurance approaches, maturity, and the effectiveness of controls.
* Process Improvement: Strengthening grants management processes at the award activity level and identifying gaps or trends through complex data analysis.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including auditors and governance committees to embed consistent practices.
* Reporting: Preparing high-quality briefing materials and reports regarding assurance outcomes and risks.
Required Skills And Knowledge
* Framework Experience: Demonstrated experience developing and implementing assurance, governance, or risk management frameworks within Commonwealth agencies.
* Legislative Expertise: Strong awareness of the PGPA Act, Commonwealth Grant Rules and Principles, and general APS governance requirements.
* Analytical Ability: Proven capacity to interpret complex information and form sound judgements on control effectiveness.
* Communication: Exceptional writing skills to produce persuasive assurance documents and the ability to influence stakeholders.
* Strategic Thinking: Ability to design practical and scalable assurance tools that deliver impactful outcomes.
