The role
Bring your energy to Aggreko as HSE LEAD based in North Central Qld.
The HSE Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities required to support large-scale renewable energy project delivery. This role oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project-specific HSE management systems, risk mitigation strategies, environmental controls, and compliance frameworks across all phases of the project lifecycle, including mobilisation, construction, commissioning, and demobilisation. Working closely with project management, site delivery leadership, engineering, mobilisation teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and site personnel, the HSE Lead ensures all site activities, materials, equipment, and services are planned and executed safely, risks are effectively managed, and environmental obligations are met in alignment with legislative, client, and company requirements.
What you'll do as HSE Lead:
- Provide visible and proactive HSE leadership across all project activities.
- Promote a strong safety culture focused on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific HSE Management Plans (HSEMPs).
- Ensure alignment with applicable WHS legislation, environmental regulations, client standards, and company policies.
- Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of effective controls.
- Support pre-qualification and onboarding of subcontractors and suppliers from an HSE perspective.
- Act as the primary HSE point of contact for project teams and site personnel.
You are:
- Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience in an HSE leadership role on construction, infrastructure, renewable energy, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of Australian and specifically Queensland, WHS and Mining legislation and environmental requirements.
- Experience working in remote or complex project environments.
- Knowledge and understanding of ISO 45001:2018 Safety Management Systems and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.
- Strong investigation, reporting, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Willingness to travel to the project site on a regular basis
