The Strategic Procurement branch within the Corporate Services group provides leadership to Council's Procurement value stream. Branch accountabilities include providing Category Management services across a diverse range of goods, services, and works, and ownership of Council's procurement related process, systems, governance and analytics.
This role will lead a dynamic team within the Strategic Procurement branch that is accountable for both Process and Analytics. As Principal Procurement Process and Reporting Specialist, you will drive strategy, analytics, and process improvements across sourcing, contracts, suppliers, and purchasing, while providing expert guidance on SAP ARIBA and ECC. Your work will help continually improve Council's systems and processes, and support the delivery of value-driven outcomes for Brisbane.
Responsibilities
Lead a dynamic team within the Strategic Procurement branch for Process and Analytics, driving strategy, analytics, and process improvements across sourcing, contracts, suppliers, and purchasing.
Provide expert guidance on SAP ARIBA and ECC to support procurement activities and system usage.
Help continually improve Council's procurement systems and processes, enabling value-driven outcomes for Brisbane.
Qualifications and Requirements
Proven leadership in managing teams, including mentoring, coaching, and building collaborative relationships.
Extensive knowledge of procurement strategy, processes, risk management, and end-to-end procurement systems such as SAP Ariba, SAP ECC and SAP S4/HANA.
Extensive purchasing knowledge.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in performance metrics, benchmarking, and process improvement initiatives.
Experience leading projects and implementing system or process changes within a complex organisational environment.
Ability to identify, mitigate, and monitor procurement risks while ensuring compliance with audit, policy, and legislative requirements.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including providing advice to senior management, staff, suppliers, and elected officials.
Proven ability to develop guidance, training, and knowledge management systems to support procurement value streams.
Degree or Post Graduate qualifications in commerce, business or equivalent is highly desirable.
