The Role
Reporting to the CEO, as General Manager Sales, you will lead the end-to-end sales function, taking responsibility for strategic growth, team development, customer acquisition, and margin performance across wholesale and retail meat sales. This hands-on executive role is central to delivering commercial success and future scalability.
Key responsibilities
* Develop and execute sales strategies across branded carcass, box meat, and small goods channels
* Lead and mentor a small, capable sales team
* Build relationships with key national and independent retail buyers to expand branded product sales
* Collaborate with operations, logistics, and marketing to align product, customer, and capacity
* Oversee commercial contracts, pricing models, forecasting, and margin management
* Shape sales systems and reporting to ensure reliable, scalable sales operations
* Actively manage strategic customer relationships to grow volume and market share
About You
You are a commercially minded sales leader with extensive experience in the meat industry. You understand carcass balance, brand positioning, and the operational realities of meat sales in wholesale and foodservice environments. Comfortable in a lean structure, you're equally at home shaping strategy or picking up the phone to close a deal.
You will bring
* 10+ years' experience in meat or agri-food sales, ideally with primary processing exposure
* Demonstrated success in leading teams and growing branded food products
* Strong commercial acumen and experience in pricing, margin, and contract negotiation
* Deep understanding of meat categories and the dynamics of wholesale and retail supply chains
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a practical, collaborative approach
* Familiarity with regional supply chains and ability to work cross-functionally across teams
* A hands-on leadership style and comfort with both strategic planning and execution

* Base salary circa $220,000 excluding super
