Department of Education WA – Kalgoorlie WA

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2026

Eastern Goldfields College (EGC) is a dedicated senior secondary college committed to providing a culturally responsive learning environment that fosters excellence, innovation, and student success. We empower students to grow, lead, and thrive through our Young Adult Ethos as we partner with our students and families to build meaningful pathways that prepare them for life after schooling. We invest in the professional growth of our staff from graduate support programs to opportunities to grow in leadership positions, and we provide the support and resources to help you achieve your goals in starting or progressing your career.

Attractive regional incentives including subsidised housing and relocation as well as financial enticements, and a thriving local community in Australia's largest outback city make Kalgoorlie an attractive place to live and work. Here, you will find increased opportunities for teaching and leadership development within senior secondary schooling including teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and certificate classes and whole school portfolios in leadership positions.

Located centrally in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, we collaborate with Curtin University and Central Regional TAFE to form an education precinct, offering diverse educational pathways including ATAR, General, Vocational Education and Training (VET), and endorsed programs. Our students come from local and surrounding areas, public and private schools, attracted to our wide range of offerings and strong community links that support a range of co-curricular activities, clubs, and leadership opportunities.

At EGC, we live our values of Achievement and Empowerment, Equity and Inclusivity, and Responsibility to inspire and promote lifelong learning.

The Role

EGC is seeking a passionate and skilled Design and Technologies teacher to join their dedicated and high‐performing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and forward‐thinking school community that values innovation, creativity, and excellence in education. Ideally, the successful applicant should have the ability to deliver engaging and practical lessons in one or more Design and Technologies areas. Current contexts on offer are photography, graphic design, and general and ATAR design courses. Teachers with experience in other design contexts are highly encouraged to apply, with the teaching load able to be negotiated with the successful candidate. Experience in delivering School Based Certificate Courses is also desirable.

The successful applicant should ideally be a motivated and creative educator who can inspire learners through hands‐on, problem‐solving activities that promote critical thinking and innovation. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are well regarded, along with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. A willingness to contribute to wider school life, including student wellbeing and co‐curricular programs, is also important. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in shaping the future of Design and Technologies education within a progressive and supportive educational setting.

Professional Benefits

* Attractive Country Teaching Program Allowance of $8,020 per year
* District Allowance of $2,354 a year
* Temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $3,000
* 12 percent employer contributions to superannuation
* 12 weeks' vacation leave (school holidays)

We are committed to an inclusive and culturally responsive workforce reflecting the diversity in our schools and the Western Australian community.
