The Opportunity
Attention researchers! An exciting opportunity awaits you to join the REC lab within the School of Biological Sciences at Monash University. The REC lab has a particular focus on island conservation, and is led by Associate Professor Rohan Clarke. The School of Biological Sciences, within the Faculty of Science is renowned worldwide for its excellence in research and education. Our areas of expertise include conservation biology and ecology, evolutionary biology, as well as genetics and genomics.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in the ecological restoration of Phillip Island, in the Norfolk Island group, south-western Pacific. The Research fellow will work closely with our agency and industry partners in this role that spans both restoration science and on-ground project implementation. Program success includes both the development and implementation of the program, and publication of scientific findings. Ultimately this research seeks to enhance the status of Phillip Island as an island refuge for plants and animals, and improve the regional resilience of threatened species populations, whilst serving as an exemplar for further island restoration activities.
The position will work closely with the project management team, including project-specific research assistants and agency partners.
The applicant should have:
1. A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline or a closely related field. These fields include, but are not limited to, island restoration, revegetation, pest plant management, ecology, and conservation biology.
