Job Title: Unit Coordinator
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring seamless administrative support to unit-based and hospital-wide clinicians and staff.
The successful candidate will function as the liaison between patients, visitors, and clinicians, providing exceptional service in every customer interaction.
1. Key Responsibilities:
2. Organize priorities and complete tasks on time.
3. Manage confidential patient information and maintain confidentiality.
4. Partner with nursing to coordinate patient flow, including communication regarding admissions, discharges, and transfers.
5. Perform clerical duties to assist in the administration of the unit.
6. Greets and interacts professionally with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers.
7. Manages information at the central nursing station and throughout the unit.
8. Schedules consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transports.
9. Enters accurate and timely information into electronic medical records about admissions, discharges, and transfers.
10. Contacts ancillary departments for equipment, services, and supplies.
11. Tracks status and facilitates repairs.
12. May assist with payroll, staff scheduling, or supervision of unit secretaries; duties vary by department.
13. Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.
Requirements
* High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
* Unit Coordinator Certification (preferred).
* 2-3 years of administrative support experience required.
* Proficiency with office procedures, MS Office, proofreading, phone systems, and medical terminology.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
