About the team
The Beyond Brave team is committed to supporting survivors of historical child sexual abuse who are seeking to apply to the National Redress Scheme. They approach this work with empathy and professionalism, and while the subject matter is serious, the team fosters a positive and supportive workplace environment.
In 2024, the team assisted 791 clients and delivered 11,326 sessions through the Redress support service. Support is offered face to face (depending on location), online, and by telephone. Outreach services extend to clients in Townsville, Cairns, Palm Island, other areas of Far North Queensland, and to those applying from prison.
About the position
As our Case Manager, you will manage a caseload of approximately 40–45 clients, providing person-centred, trauma-informed emotional support to people in custody who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse and are considering applying to the National Redress Scheme.
You will assist clients in completing and lodging their applications, offer clear and accessible information about the Scheme, conduct risk assessments, and deliver appropriate support, including short-term counselling and crisis intervention.
About You
* You bring at least 2 years of post-graduate experience in counselling or mental health, ideally working with survivors of complex childhood trauma or violence.
* You hold a degree in counselling, psychology, or social work, with eligibility for membership in a relevant professional association (APS, AASW, ACA, or PACFA).
* You currently hold, or are willing to obtain, a Working with Children Blue Card and complete necessary clearances for working in Correctional Centres.
* You’re comfortable working independently, demonstrating good judgment and initiative.
* You consistently maintain professional boundaries, uphold ethical standards, protect confidentiality, and comply with mandatory reporting requirements
* You bring at least 2 years of post-graduate experience in counselling or mental health, ideally working with survivors of complex childhood trauma or violence.
