Seymour Whyte, in alliance with SMEC and Toowoomba Regional Council, has been awarded the Cressbrook Dam Safety Improvement Project (CDSIP), a major infrastructure initiative set to significantly enhance flood resilience and water security for the Toowoomba region. This $266 million project will raise the dam crest height and widen the spillway, bringing the structure in line with current engineering design standards. Once complete, the upgraded dam will provide increased flood capacity, improved safety during major flood events, and ensure the long‐term reliability of Cressbrook Dam as a critical water supply asset for the region. Mobilisation is now commencing and we are seeking an experienced Project Construction Manager (Structures) to join this landmark project and coordinate on‐site structural engineering functions, ensuring project objectives are achieved and construction activities are effectively supported.
About The Role
* Manage and coordinate on‐site structural construction activities.
* Provide technical leadership and direction to the structures team, including workload allocation and mentoring.
* Drive productivity and performance, tracking progress and implementing improvement initiatives where required.
* Oversee procurement and subcontractor management, including scope development and package delivery.
* Ensure compliance with client specifications, contract requirements and quality systems.
* Identify and manage project risks and opportunities across safety, quality, commercial, financial and program outcomes.
* Lead and embed a strong safety and compliance culture across all structural works, ensuring adherence to HSEQ requirements, management plans and legislation.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Engineering (Civil).
* Demonstrated experience delivering structural infrastructure construction projects, including bespoke or complex structures such as concrete works or dams.
* Proven experience in self‐performed construction operations.
* Ability to produce Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and ITPs for all trades.
* Ability to develop, manage and report on project budgets and forecasts.
* Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring teams and supporting succession planning initiatives.
