Strategic Communication delivers communication services on behalf of the Department of Justice and Community Safety's (DJCS) business units to inform and educate the community about departmental policies, programs and legislation.
If you have a passion for law and order issues, strong writing skills, and a sharp news sense, this is your chance to work on some of Victoria's most high-profile and challenging public policy areas, including criminal law, corrections, youth justice, emergency services, and community safety.
About The Role
You will be part of a media team that handles some of the most challenging areas of public policy and operations.
Our work requires clear thinking under pressure, and the ability to understand and communicate sensitive and complex information accurately. Candidates should be confident working in a fast-moving environment and capable of managing multiple and competing deadlines.
The successful applicants will be expected to write media materials, coordinate responses to media enquiries, be team-oriented and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and a can-do approach in the workplace.
The Adviser, Media provides communication support and advice to the department's business units, senior executives and ministerial offices.
Some Of Your Duties Will Include
* Drafting and delivering clear, compelling media materials.
* Responding to media enquiries with accuracy and professionalism.
* Working under pressure while managing multiple deadlines.
* Collaborating in a fast-paced, high-performing team.

Qualifications / Requirements
* A tertiary qualification in journalism, public relations or other communication-related discipline is desirable.
