In partnership with the Academic Team, the Visual Art Teacher will design and deliver a dynamic and inspiring academic programme that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and the pursuit of excellence, enabling each student to realise their unique potential.As part of the Primary School, the Visual Art Teacher plays a crucial role in the holistic development of students.
This responsibility extends beyond academic learning to include active engagement in the School's pastoral care system, the co-curricular programme, and the cultural and spiritual life of the School.
Participation in each of these areas is considered an essential expectation of the role, reflecting the School's commitment to developing well-rounded, compassionate, and resilient learners.The Visual Art Teacher will create opportunities for students to explore and express themselves through a variety of artistic media, techniques, and styles.
By combining the teaching of essential content, knowledge, and skills with an inquiry driven process of learning, they will help students to make meaningful connections between art, personal identity, and the world around them.
Lessons will be designed to encourage curiosity, problem solving, and innovation while building confidence in both individual and collaborative artistic practice.Through their passion, expertise, and commitment, the Primary School Visual Art Teacher will inspire students to discover their artistic voice, to take risks in their learning, and to recognise the value of creativity as an essential part of their personal and academic growth.
About You You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:Proven experience in developing innovative academic pathways to achieve outstanding academic results for all studentsCurriculum knowledge and teaching and learning strategies from Pre school to Year 6, explicitly with a focus on Visual ArtProven experience in the provision of pastoral care to effectively meet the personal, social, emotional and academic needs of studentsThe ability to work collaboratively with other members of staff and lead othersPYP experience or an understanding of Inquiry pedagogyThe ability to collaborate with others to implement initiatives, project delivery and change managementWell developed administrative and organisational skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsCommitment to the full life of an independent school and a willingness to engage in School activities out of regular hours.All team members at CGS are required to have:Appropriate qualifications and registrationA valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People CardA current National Police Check; andFull working rights within Australia.
