The role is full time working each day of the school term.
**The Role**:
The position supports teachers in the delivery of the Curriculum including Science, within the College. The position provides assistance to teaching staff through the preparation of laboratories and experiments for Science classes and preparing and organising materials and equipment within the STEM curriculum areas as required.
**Responsibilities**:
- Undertake responsibility associated with the safe and efficient operation of the Science laboratories.
- Provide technical assistance and advice as requested.
- Assist in the planning and organising of teaching spaces including laboratories and STEM areas.
- Test experiments.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records for the safe storage, handling and disposal of hazardous or toxic substances.
- Maintain security of equipment and materials.
- Undertake minor repairs and servicing of equipment.
- Prepare Science practicals.
- Order supplies and materials in conjunction with other staff.
- Prepare solutions and cultures.
- Other duties as required by leaders in the College.
**About You**:
It is expected that you will:
- Have experience in organising and prioritising work.
- Have appropriate work experience as a Laboratory Assistant or Technician (minimum 2 years), preferably in an educational setting.
- Have demonstrated knowledge of the storage, handling and disposal of equipment, chemicals and waste commonly used in school Science laboratories.
In addition, the preferred applicants will have an understanding of and commitment to, the ethos of Independent Schooling and a willingness to contribute to College events and as needed and adhere to the College's Child Safety Policy. Employees at the College will be required to be compliant with any Health Directions made under the Public and Environmental Health Act 2011 which are in place at the time of employment.
