About This Opportunity
Join our dynamic media team as a Media and Content Officer where you'll help to uncover and share compelling stories that showcase the impact of our researchers, staff, and students. As part of the high‐performing Media and Content team within Marketing and Communication, you'll work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to create engaging content, manage media enquiries, and report on the outcomes of stories that elevate the University's profile across news and digital platforms.
Position Details:
* Be a part of the storytelling that shapes the University's profile and impact.
* Salary will be in the range $83,776.44–$93,121.41 plus 17% superannuation (HEW Level 5).
* Full‐time, Permanent – based at our beautiful St Lucia Campus.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and pitch stories that enhance the University's reputation.
* Respond to media enquiries and build relationships with journalists.
* Help to produce engaging content across multiple channels.
* Proactively spot opportunities to promote UQ's research, teaching and community engagement.

About You
Make your mark in a role where your storytelling helps showcase ideas, people, and achievements that matter across UQ. Combining media awareness with strong writing skills, you know how to identify compelling stories and deliver them in a way that captures attention and demonstrates UQ's contribution to society. You're organised, proactive, and confident managing media enquiries and working with academic and professional staff.
Key Selection Criteria
* Degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Ability to manage media enquiries and successfully pitch stories.
* Strong writing and editing skills with good attention to detail.
* Organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Experience using digital and social media to enhance reach and engagement.
* Willingness to work occasional out‐of‐hours and participate in an on‐call media roster.
