Overview
Temporary Staff Specialist in Stroke Neurology – CCLHD. Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Department of Neurology, Gosford Hospital and Wyong Hospitals at Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD).

Central Coast is comprised of Gosford and Wyong, located between Sydney and Newcastle, with population growth expected to 450,000 by 2030. The Local Health District has connections with Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle. The position has obligations to both Gosford Hospital and Wyong Hospital. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
Responsibilities / Role
Maintain and deliver clinical care in stroke neurology across hyperacute, acute, and post-acute phases. Lead and supervise medical and surgical trainees, residents and medical students; contribute to teaching on the management of the deteriorating patient. Engage in quality improvement methodologies. Participate in telestroke care and adhere to current acute stroke guidelines for thrombolysis and endovascular therapy patient selection. Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care and outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
* Medical Practitioner registered or able to be registered in Australia, with an unrestricted 19AB-exempted provider number.
* Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or other equivalent specialist recognition (Applicants expecting to be awarded fellowship within three months may be considered; appointment will be conditional on completing qualifications).
* Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Stroke Neurology.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and strong interpersonal/communication skills.
* Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
* Commitment to NSW CORE values and CCLHD Values and Behaviours.
* Current clinical practice in stroke medicine with experience in hyperacute, acute, and post-acute care; familiarity with thrombolysis and endovascular therapy.
