The role of Senior Quality Technician is a newly created role that will play a key role in ensuring the day-to-day operations of the laboratory are efficient, compliant, and aligned with the Brick Lane Brewing Quality System. The position supports the Quality Manager by executing and maintaining Quality System requirements, including activities outlined in the Laboratory Sampling Plan, overseeing the Sensory Program, conducting internal audits, compiling data, generating reports, and reviewing or drafting documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site QHSE requirements
* Conduct Quality and HS&E risk assessments
* Record and report monthly site utility readings and environmental metrics
* Collect and perform daily chemical and microbiological testing on products at various stages of production, using a range of test methods
* Carry out equipment calibrations in the Laboratory, Packaging, and Brewing departments
* Record and report test results using Brick Lane computer systems, taking corrective actions when necessary
* Manage retention sample collection and microbiological product clearance
* Maintain the overall effectiveness of the Laboratory, including inventory control, equipment upkeep, proper storage of supplies, and safe disposal of laboratory waste
* Work closely with manufacturing personnel to safely execute laboratory work requests, operate and maintain laboratory apparatus, and ensure accurate and timely documentation of data
* Identify data trends and anomalies and communicate findings to the Quality Manager
* Lead the Sensory Program, driving improvements and implementing new processes
* Conduct internal audits, including Quality, HS&E, GMP, foreign object, and label reviews
* Write and update procedures; develop and deliver training required by the HS&E and Quality department, including toolbox sessions
* Provide interdepartmental training to supply team staff on laboratory testing procedures
* Develop and implement QA measures to ensure consistently accurate quality results
Successful candidates will have the following knowledge/skills and abilities:
* Experience in food production; brewing or lab experience highly valued
* Ability to perform laboratory testing independently
* Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and written communication skills
* Proficient in computer systems with strong analytical and technical interpretation skills
* Skilled in multitasking, time management, organisation, and attention to detail
* Comfortable in fast-paced environments with advanced mathematical understanding
