Operational Planning Manager

HS9 - $148,522 plus Super and Salary Packaging

6 month Full-Time Fixed-Term

About the Role

We are entering a critical phase of our hospital expansion, delivering an additional 82 beds across six new clinical units. To support this, we are seeking an experienced professional to join us in a six month fixed term, project based role focused on the set up, delivery and planning of these new services.

This role will play a pivotal part in translating planning into operational readiness — supporting workforce mobilisation, service commencement and safe planning of the hospital expansion. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your expertise at a defining moment, helping shape how care is delivered from day one.

Reporting to the Head of Projects, the Operational Planning Manager will lead integrated operational planning activities to ensure new services are safely commissioned and transitioned into early operations. The role works closely with clinical, corporate, project and external partners to coordinate readiness, resolve emerging issues and embed new workflows.

This role is critical in ensuring continuity, safety and service quality as the hospital moves from activation into early stabilisation.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead integrated operational planning, commissioning and readiness activities
* Coordinate multidisciplinary planning workstreams and manage interdependencies
* Drive early operational stabilisation by identifying and resolving emerging issues
* Plan and deliver operational testing, simulations and readiness exercises
* Translate infrastructure, technology, workforce and clinical requirements into operational solutions
* Maintain governance, reporting, risk registers and readiness documentation
* Support workforce mobilisation and change readiness across new services
* Provide clear visibility of risks, issues and readiness to senior leaders

About You

You are an experienced operational planning or activation leader with a strong understanding of clinical operations and service readiness in complex, high‐risk environments. You bring a calm, structured and collaborative approach, with the ability to lead through ambiguity and change.

You will bring:

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, business, project management or a related field
* Experience leading activation, commissioning or major service transitions
* Strong understanding of clinical and operational safety requirements
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex, multidisciplinary workstreams
* Experience delivering operational testing, simulations or readiness activities
* Highly developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
* Experience in health or similarly complex service environments (highly regarded)

Benefits

* A culture where people matter.
* Excellent supervision and investment in the skill development of all our team members.
* Well defined career pathways existing across our Directorates with multi-disciplined Teams.
* Salary Packaging Options available – Mortgage, Rent, Car, Expenses
* A leading, multi-faceted approach to safety, with unparalleled strategic, practical, individualised and team-based supports to minimise risks and fear and maximise safety and security, underpinned by our workplace health and safety strategy.
* Celebration and reward for good performance, through employee recognition.
* Access to an employee assistance program – an external, confidential, self-referral employee wellbeing program, for personal or work-related matters.
* A mental health and wellbeing program providing psychological, peer support and critical incidence response programs.
* Influenza and Immunisation Evidence
* This position is subject to a Police Check
