Design Engineer - Machine Development

SpaceX is committed to advancing the field of space technology, and as a Design Engineer - Machine Development, you will play a key role in developing innovative solutions for our Starship program.
\
This position involves working with cross-functional teams to design, build, and activate custom machinery and infrastructure required for the production and handling of Starship launch vehicles. You will collaborate with vehicle engineers to influence vehicle design and manufacturing processes, ensuring maximum production rate and efficiency.
\
Responsibilities:
\
* Develop detailed models and engineering prints in NX to design and fabricate mass-efficient welded structures.
* Execute structural sizing, mechanism design, hardware fabrication, and activation testing to deliver results on projects.
* Create manufacturing planning for scope performed by internal welding and toolmaking teams.
* Support machine activation with controls engineering team and perform development testing with production engineering team.

Requirements:
\
* Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
* Experience using CAD software design packages (e.g., Solidworks, NX, CATIA, or ProE).
* 1+ years of total experience in one or more of the following: involvement with outside-classroom projects designing and building mechanical structures; academic research on mechanical structures; professional experience designing and analyzing mechanical structures.

* Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills.
* Experience working in a production facility with equipment and machinery.
* Strong understanding and application of GD&T.
