Our client is a world leader in the manufacturing of chemicals and scientific products. They are currently seeking a full time Materials Laboratory Technician to join their R&D team based in their manufacturing facility in North West Sydney. This is an initial 6 month contract with the possibility of extension supporting the development of materials used in the construction and manufacture of their water filtration products.
Duties include:
* Assisting in the development of new and improved adhesives and materials used in the manufacture and construction of water filtration products.
* Assisting in the formulation of new adhesives, handling of chemicals, and operation of pilot manufacturing equipment.
* Undertaking routine materials testing activities and recording results; including physical, chemical and mechanical testing.
* Assisting in the management and maintenance of laboratory and product testing equipment
* Working with R&D chemists and production operators to support scale up and manufacturing implementation activities.
* Maintaining a safe and clean laboratory / pilot production environments, following good lab practices and company EHS policies.
Ideally you will have:
* Experience as a technician / operator with a Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or graduate with tertiary qualifications in materials science or industrial chemistry.
* Experience working safely with adhesives, chemicals, and / or materials technologies.
* Experience working in a manufacturing environment (highly regarded).
* The ability to work under minimal supervision and be self-driven.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
