As a member of the Emergency Department Team, the ED RN is responsible for managing all aspects of the nursing process and delivering patient- and family-centered care. The RN has the authority to utilize governing and administrative resources, technological systems, support systems, and multidisciplinary clinical experts to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
Our department leadership maintains high visibility on the unit, fostering an open-door policy and transparent communication. Front-line staff are encouraged to provide feedback on workflow or standard work changes to improve outcomes.
The Emergency Department features 65 private patient bays, a dedicated pediatric waiting room, and specialized space for behavioral health patients. The new layout supports a patient care model designed to enhance quality, efficiency, and reduce wait times, including dedicated Radiology space within the ED. We offer both adult and pediatric emergency care, are a Level III trauma center, hold the highest-ranked Stroke Center designation, and are the first hospital on the North Shore to provide advanced care for sexual assault patients. Additionally, a dedicated Nurse Educator supports comprehensive orientation and ongoing education programs to ensure up-to-date evidence-based practice.
