The Team
Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) sits within Community, Mental Health and Wellbeing as part of the Department of Health's Statewide Mental Health Services. CYMHS delivers specialised, evidence‐based mental health care to children and adolescents experiencing moderate to complex mental health issues, working closely with their families and carers. The service operates within a multidisciplinary team model and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including health, education, and community agencies, to support positive mental health outcomes and wellbeing for young people across Tasmania while promoting safety, inclusion, and community.
The Role
The Social Worker provides high‐quality, evidence‐based social work services within a Child and Youth Mental Health team. The role delivers specialist assessment, therapeutic intervention, and case management for children and adolescents with complex mental health needs, while contributing to crisis response, intake, consultation, and multidisciplinary care planning. The position also plays an important role in supporting families, providing consultation to other professionals and agencies, and participating in quality improvement, education, and service development.
You will need
* Demonstrated experience in child and adolescent mental health, including assessment, therapeutic intervention, and case management of complex presentations.
* Strong communication, collaboration, and professional judgement skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment and broader service.

Details of appointment
* Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 7 May 2027.
* Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
* $110,425 to $126,703 per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

* Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

Eligibility
* Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers.
* Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a "certification of eligibility" letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership to the AASW or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements.
* Full member of Australian Association of Social Workers.
* Current Working with Children Registration.
* Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
