About the role
The purpose of this role it to utilise high level culturally safe mental health knowledge and skills, design and deliver education, training and other workforce development activities aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of mental health treatment and support provided by both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous health and community service workers across Queensland.
This position is open to people who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Applicants from across Queensland are welcome to apply. The role can be undertaken with flexibility in location e.g. remote work (by people outside of commuting distance from Wacol), though some travel may be required. This role will involve collaboration with the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services (Child Safety).
About you
- High-level level knowledge, expertise and skills in contemporary mental health and suicide prevention practice including assessment and intervention.
- High level skills and confidence in provision, development and evaluation of training, education and practice advice to health and non-clinical practitioners, utilising multiple learning modalities and techniques in line with adult learning principles.
- Ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous workers together to improve cultural practice capabilities of the broader workforce.
- High level project management skills including the ability to contribute to the development of service improvement initiatives including effective training review and evaluation.
- High level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, enabling you to achieve successful outcomes with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Leadership and problem-solving skills with demonstrated capacity to work autonomously in the achievement of project deliverables in an environment with competing demands and priorities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a high functioning autonomous team, demonstrating initiative and independence whilst adhering closely to operational priorities and requirements.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
