About the Role

At The Salvation Army, we stand beside young people experiencing homelessness or the risk of it—especially when the world goes quiet. We're seeking an After-Hours Youth Support Worker to provide compassionate, consistent support to young people in crisis accommodation, creating safety, structure and hope during the hours that matter most.

If you have the heart to listen, the strength to show up, and the resilience to hold space for young people navigating trauma and transition—this role is for you.

Reporting to the After-Hours Client Services Coordinator, this is a casual position, based in Shepparton VIC.

Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 3.

You will successfully
- Create a safe, nurturing refuge environment grounded in trauma-informed care
- Support young residents to maintain shared living spaces and healthy routines
- Implement individual case plans set by the daytime case management team
- Offer informal, in-the-moment emotional and practical support
- Assist with life skills like cooking, cleaning, hygiene, and goal setting
- Manage evening routines and conducting handovers to ensure continuous care
- Support outreach clients in the community as needed
- Maintain clear and timely records to ensure safe, professional service delivery

You will have
- A diploma-level qualification in community or social services (essential)
- Experience working with young people, ideally in the homelessness or crisis space
- Resilience, emotional intelligence, and a trauma-informed approach
- Flexibility and a willingness to work evenings and weekends
- A current Victorian Driver's Licence
- A current Working with Children's Check
