About Our Client
This Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of state-controlled road infrastructure and ensuring efficient operation of the road network. They also play a key role in the Natural Disaster Program, including the assessment, planning, design and delivery of disaster recovery infrastructure projects.
Job Description
* Deliver high level advice on the statutory obligations of all relevant environmental legislation including requirements of the Commonwealth's Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
* Assist with the delivery of Commonwealth and State environmental approvals and offsets as necessary.
* Provide specialist environmental advice regarding implementation of environmental assessments, legislation, compliance and management during all phases of the specified Program of works including the review of project design, environmental surveys, spatial data, Public Environment Report (PER) and the development of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
* Identify possible problem areas and negotiate modifications to design, as necessary.
* Provide guidance on the scope and direction of project activities as well as being a key advisor to project management teams with regards to environmental issues and risks to project delivery.
* Coordinate and project manage the acquisition of environmental offset and project land including working with multiple teams within TMR and external project advisors.
* Maintain effective liaison and communication with internal staff, State and Local Government agencies and industry.
* Provide high-level written and oral advice on development related matters relating to the safety and efficiency of the state transport corridors in accordance with legislated timeframes.
* Represent the project on working groups, steering committees and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide advice in relation to ministerial correspondence and briefing notes as directed for the Regional Director.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate for this role should have:
* A Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or Natural Resource Management from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
* Previous experience providing specialist environmental advice regarding the implementation of environmental assessments.
* Be confident in providing high-level written and oral advice.
