Kestrel is one of the world’s largest producing underground coking, or metallurgical coal mines and produces around 7 million tonnes of metallurgical coal annually. Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process. The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD. Our team’s capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation. We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

About the role:
We are seeking a Business Partner Contracts to join our site-based Contracts team. This pivotal role reports to the Strategic Sourcing Manager and is key to ensuring our contracts are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and aligned with operational goals.
You’ll be supporting day-to-day operations while also identifying opportunities for improvement across contract management, rate card oversight, production incentives, vendor onboarding, and site travel and accommodation processes. In this role, you will support Kestrel by:
* Lead site-based contract management, ensuring compliance with company policies, legislation, and contractor performance.
* Oversee rate card administration and manage production incentive schemes to support cost control and operational goals.
* Support procurement activities including vendor onboarding and management via the Ariba system.
* Provide strategic guidance and day-to-day support to teams in effective contract lifecycle management.
* Administer contract notices, support negotiations, and identify improvement opportunities across contracting processes.
* Manage travel and accommodation logistics for site personnel in coordination with external providers.
* Drive continuous improvement in procurement, contract efficiency, and stakeholder engagement.
About you:
* Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Law or a related field.
* High attention to detail and commercial acumen.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of business.
* A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and ability to manage competing priorities.
* Highly proficient in the use of Excel and the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
* Previous experience in leading commercial teams will be highly regarded.
