About the Role
Seeking a driven Engineer to provide engineering support for development and select stay-in-business projects. Ensure fit-for-purpose designs, balancing risk and reward to improve project NPV, while maintaining compliance with Australian standards.
* Deliver FEL for EAPNG projects to enhance value and access a larger reserve base.
* Ensure project scope aligns with the asset Operating Philosophy.
* Provide Owners Engineering input to prevent scope drift and ensure compliance with Santos, Australian, and international standards.
* Identify cost-reduction and resource recovery opportunities.
* Balance risk and reward for safe, operable facilities with low lifecycle cost.
* Accountable for in-house concept deliverables, risk identification/control (HAZID, HAZOP, CHAZOP, LOPA), FEED & Detailed Design reviews, and project-specific specifications.
* Maintain a fit-for-purpose development design catalogue to improve NPV and reduce cycle time.
* Identify synergies in design and equipment selection.
* Act as technical authority for Instrument and Controls discipline.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and company standards.
* Mentor graduate and junior engineers.
* Collaborate with Principal Engineers on updates to standards and deviations/waivers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful, you will have 10+ years' experience within the oil and gas or similar industry, inclusive of 5-7 years in Instrument and Control engineering within Upstream or Processing facilities.
* Familiarity with relevant Australian and industry standards.
* Chartered Engineer and RPEQ certification.
* Desirable: Certified Functional Safety Engineer.
* A bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Control's System Engineering is essential.
* A postgraduate qualification in Project Management and familiarity with project management processes being desirable.
