About this exciting opportunity
As our Pilot Deployment Program (PDP) Next Generation Tools for Coral Monitoring Technician you will be required to support method development and semi-automated data production, including AI-classifiers. Specifically, this role will lead one (1) publication, and accelerate the production, QCQA, and maintenance of high-quality datasets to support several team objectives in the operationalisation of monitoring restoration interventions.
This role is critical in supporting benthic data production, quality control, and assurance following FAIR data principles along with monitoring method development and automation across the Pilot Deployment Program including in the field.
About you
You will hold a master's degree or higher in Marine Biology, Coral Reef Ecology, or a related discipline with considerable applied knowledge of ecological monitoring, statistics, and environmental principles and processes. You will have the ability to demonstrate experience in AI application to data extraction from coral reef images coupled with skills and passion in development and testing of training data sets for optimizing workflow.
Our ideal applicant will have previous experience working with photogrammetry equipment and hold current required field qualifications (i.e., SCUBA diving, boat driving, first aid).

* AIMS AOF Level 3 Enhanced (Bands 6 to 9) salary ($88,578 to $95,846 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation
* Full-time, Temporary (Labour hire) opportunity up to 30 June 2028
