Job Title
A High Voltage Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of power distribution networks, switchgear, transformers, and associated protection systems.
About The Role
This highly skilled individual will be responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing high voltage electrical equipment and systems. They will work closely with Senior HV technicians and Workshop Electricians to manufacture specialised high-quality electrical equipment supporting construction, mining, and tunnelling projects across Australia.
* Carry out high voltage switching and installation
* Carry out terminations and jointing
* Carry out testing, commissioning, and fault-finding on transformers, switchgear, cables, and protection relays
* Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on high voltage electrical systems
* Prepare technical reports, work permits, and test documentation
* Support project teams during shutdowns, upgrades, and commissioning activities
* Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and quality inspections prior to dispatch
* Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime
* Travel to projects and sites to carry out works
* Maintain compliance with electrical safety standards, regulations, and company procedures
The ideal candidate will possess electrically qualified skills, ability to work independently and as a member of a work team, current driver's license, experience in a similar role and industry, current HV Switching Qualifications, attention to detail, strong initiative and self-motivation, ability to work under pressure, ability to read and follow technical drawings and work instructions, strong attention to detail, quality workmanship, and commitment to safety.
