Overview
Electrical Engineer - Submarine Escape and Rescue (SERS) role based in Bibra Lake, Perth, Western Australia. You will contribute directly to maintaining Australia's readiness to respond to submarine emergencies, combining technical engineering with operational involvement. Some days you will refine engineering drawings, registers, and compliance procedures, while on others you will be at sea working with highly specialised equipment in real-world submarine rescue exercises.
Responsibilities
- Act as the project engineer, delivering critical technical outputs
- Provide on-site engineering support for maintenance and operations
- Maintain engineering dashboards, registers, drawings, and procedures
- Support bids, tenders, and stakeholder meetings with Australian engineering input
- Engage with technical authorities to ensure compliance and governance
- Deploy at sea in support of submarine rescue exercises, maintaining 12-hour readiness for call-outs
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in maritime, subsea, or defence engineering environments
- Strong attention to detail and confidence with engineering documentation
- Experience with SolidWorks (drafting, modelling, and design)
- Familiarity with PLM systems, ideally in a defence or highly governed setting
- Ability to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance
- Willingness to complete an offshore medical
