We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Officer to join our team on high-profile structures and defence projects in NSW. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, project-specific safety requirements, and defence protocols. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to drive a proactive safety culture on site.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and implement workplace health and safety systems across defence and structural project sites.
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
* Develop, review, and enforce safe work method statements (SWMS) and job safety analyses (JSAs).
* Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
* Report, investigate, and manage incidents, hazards, and near misses.
* Liaise with defence representatives, client stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with site-specific requirements.
* Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and reporting.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Safety Officer on structural and/or defence construction projects.
* Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and defence safety frameworks.
* Cert IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum requirement).
* Additional qualifications such as ICAM Investigation, First Aid, or Lead Auditor highly regarded.
* Ability to influence, lead, and embed a safety-first culture across diverse teams.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
