Apprenticeship - Engineering Mechanical (Fitter Focus) Shipbuilding Employment Pathways (SEP) – PEER
Location: PEER, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
What you will do
* Undertake a 4-year Apprenticeship leading to a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical with a fitter and machinist focus.
* Gain nationally accredited training delivered through the PEER Group Training Organisation (GTO) at Albert Park in collaboration with TAFE SA (Regency Campus).
* Complete onsite work placements with employers in the defence industry across South Australia.
* Receive mentorship and support from a dedicated Apprentice and Trainee Supervisor, PEER team, Mas National, TAFE SA, and host employers.
Intake and Program Details
* Intake 4 commencing on 22 September.
* 4-year program with wages in line with the National Training Wage, including annual leave, personal leave, and superannuation.
* Earn while you learn and build hands-on experience in the defence industry, focusing on nuclear-powered submarine, naval shipbuilding, and sustainment enterprises.

* Motivated individuals who are punctual, well-presented, reliable, and committed to completing a 4-year apprenticeship.
* Health and Safety focused, good team players, with problem-solving skills, manual dexterity, and basic computer literacy and numeracy.
About the Role and Organisation
* PEER is a non-profit, industry-based Group Training Organisation (GTO) and an award-winning Registered Training Organisation (RTO) delivering nationally accredited training packages in South Australia.
* PEER collaborates with the Commonwealth and South Australian Governments and TAFE SA to support defence industry pathways.
* PEER aims to support apprentices to secure employment after completion; 98% of PEER apprentices secure employment in their chosen field at the conclusion of their studies.

* Pre-employment checks may include aptitude testing, reference checks, national police check, citizenship check, working with children check, and medical (drug and alcohol) testing.
* Security clearance eligibility required due to defence orientation of the role (defined by AGSVA guidelines).
