We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, experienced registered nurse to provide clinical services to young people and their families/significant others.
You would be providing mental health clinical expertise, supportive advice and clinical care to young people and their families/significant others that present with complex mental health concerns in collaboration with mental health and paediatric services within the Emergency Department and inpatient facilities at the Northwest Regional Hospital.
This newly created role will provide treatment recommendations and specialist support to the Emergency Department staff, relevant inpatient unit staff, other health professionals and community support organisations as required and assist with clinical decision making and the planning, implementation and evaluation of care given to young people to facilitate a person centred and recovery focused approach.
Our Aim
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Tasmania is growing! We are seeking passionate and dedicated clinicians to provide clinical services to children, young people and their families/significant others experiencing complex mental health concerns. These new positions will work alongside existing CYMHS services and have been developed as initiatives under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).
The Youth Mental Health Consultation Liaison Clinician will have a passion for providing a person‐centred approach and working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing high level clinical coordination.
Benefits and Supports

* Leadership training is available and provided by the Tasmanian Health Service in partnership with University of Tasmania.
* Shift Work – 10‐hour shifts (10:00am – 8:00pm).
* Permanent, full‐time, shift worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible (hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant).
* Salary range $109,767 – $115,813 per annum plus employer 12% superannuation contribution.
* Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per annum, post‐graduate allowance of up to 10% based on qualification, multi‐disciplinary allowance may also apply.
* Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for nurses and midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full‐time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
* Travel and relocation assistance support up to $15,000, professional development and accelerated pathways, leave benefits: 20 days annual leave pro rata, 20 days personal leave pro rata, study assistance leave if eligible.
* Fitness Passport – access to 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.
* Salary & benefits package includes living expenses up to $9,010 plus $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year.
Responsibilities
* Providing specialist triage, crisis and clinical assessment service that supports right place, right time and right care principles to facilitate determined need and undertaking high‐level assessments including development and implementation of care planning for designated clients.
* Supporting the reduction of Emergency Department waiting times, admissions and early discharge to all inpatient wards or Youth Mental Health Hospital in The Home through the identification, negotiation and initiation of alternative appropriate and safe community‐based supports, and where required completing 7‐day follow‐up arrangements.
* Promoting a positive working culture by developing effective partnerships and exceptional working relationships with all stakeholders, both within the Agency and with external community service providers, and providing services that are person‐centred, high quality, sustainable and responsive to ongoing quality improvement.
* Working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

Eligibility
* Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualifications; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital‐based programme that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
