Amazon's Retail team in Sydney is seeking a Senior Program Manager to lead complex vendor portfolios and drive strategic initiatives within our Mass Vendor Relations (MVR) team. This role combines P&L ownership, strategic program development, and stakeholder leadership to manage a large-scale vendor ecosystem efficiently and profitably.
As a Senior Program Manager, you will own end-to-end performance for a large vendor portfolio while developing scalable solutions that balance automation, self-service capabilities, and other novel scaled vendor management approaches. You'll work across multiple category teams, collaborating with senior stakeholders to expand the program's impact and drive sustainable growth for Amazon's retail business.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate high business judgment, strategic thinking, and ability to influence across functions. You'll need to navigate ambiguity effectively, identify structural improvements, and build sustainable mechanisms that scale across thousands of vendors.
Key job responsibilities
• Own P&L performance for a large vendor portfolio with multi-million dollar annual revenue to drive key metrics including revenue, profitability, and operational health
• Develop and execute strategic initiatives that scale across 2000+ vendors while maintaining program growth and profitability targets
• Lead cross-functional collaboration across Retail category teams, Supply Chain, Finance, Selection, Pricing, and Marketing to navigate complex business decisions
• Build and optimize scaled approaches to vendor management, balancing automation, self-service, and targeted engagement models
• Design and implement frameworks for vendor negotiations, performance management, and growth acceleration
• Manage and coach an offshore account management team to drive consistent execution
• Create scalable mechanisms that become standards across the broader retail organization
Basic Qualifications:
- 6+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
- Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years of professional or military experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL
- Experience with P&L responsibility and delivering strong financial results
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, Pivot Tables, SQL, Tableau, etc.
- Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units
- Experience creating and implementing large-scale programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
- Experience with business analysis and P&L management
- Experience managing and negotiating contracts and vendor relationships
- MBA, or Master's degree in business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources or related field
- Track record of building automated/self-service solutions
- Strong financial acumen and experience with vendor negotiations
- Experience leading remote or offshore teams
