OPAL-RT Technologies is looking for an Application Engineer.

This position is hybrid or remote (anywhere in the UK).

OPAL-RT is a leader in real-time simulation, rapid control prototyping (RCP) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing for the design, testing and optimization of control and protection systems used in power grids, power electronics and electrical drives. Our solutions are aimed at various industries such as the energy industry, automotive, railways, and aeronautics, but also at R&D centers and universities. Several multinationals use OPAL-RT SYSTEMS: EDF, EADS, DCNS, ABB, GE ENERGY, RENAULT, TOYOTA, GENERAL ELECTRIC, SNCF, CEA, CERN, NASA, etc.

Surpassing and stimulating challenges:

As part of the development of OPAL-RT Europe's activities, and under the supervision of the Technical Team Leader, the Application Engineer is responsible for the technical support provided both to OPAL-RT Europe's customers and to the internal teams.

Mission:

* After-sales technical support: on a day-to-day basis, he will provide technical support to existing customers and carry out projects and deliveries for new customers, including system commissioning and user training.
* Pre-sales technical support: upstream of projects, he will provide support to sales managers by carrying out feasibility studies or demonstrations.

The candidate must be very rigorous and attentive to the client. He/she will be responsible for providing quality technical service and maintaining good relations with both clients and team members.

Regular international travel (2 to 5 days, 1 to 2 times per month) is expected throughout the mission.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Management of customer technical support and projects:

* Live processing of support tickets opened by customers.
* If necessary, escalate support to level 2 or 3 and follow-up with R&D at Montreal.
* Follow-up of current projects with the technical director.
* Participation in equipment procurement.
* Definition and execution of tests before delivery.
* Logistics follow-up of deliveries.

2. Training & Commissioning:

* Commissioning systems at customer sites.
* On-site or remote user training.

3. Pre-sales support:

* Implementation of hardware and software demonstrators.
* Product demonstrations at events (trade fairs, seminars).
* Feasibility studies for prospects.
* Participation in technical pitches.
* Supporting sales managers in the field.

Requirements:

* Education: Diploma in electrical engineering (Bac + 5: Engineering School, Master's degree).
* Experience: Ideally significant experience in modeling complex systems such as electrical conversion, drives, mechatronic systems, control/command. Beginners accepted depending on profile.
* Languages: Fluent in English.
* Job Competencies: MATLAB/Simulink modeling tools.
