Job Overview
We are seeking highly skilled and experienced litigation lawyers to join our in-house litigation team. As a Litigation Counsel, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile regulatory litigation cases that contribute to protecting consumers from harm and ensuring a fair, strong and efficient financial system for all Australians.
About the Role
* This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that leads ASIC's in-house litigation practice.
* You will act as solicitor on the record and be responsible for the conduct of many of ASIC's high-profile civil litigation regulatory matters in the High Court, Federal Court and State Supreme Courts.
* You will also manage external law firms engaged to act for ASIC, providing guidance on litigation strategy and advice on case theories and ASIC's regulatory powers.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct complex litigation matters and lead teams of lawyers.
* Provide strategic direction in regulatory litigation matters.
* Communicate with influence to a wide variety of audiences.
* Ensure high-level organisational skills and commitment to superior client service.
Requirements
* Significant commercial / regulatory litigation experience (and admission to practice in the High Court, Federal Court and State Supreme Courts).
* Strong technical legal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
* A real interest in making a difference through important regulatory litigation with a consumer protection focus.
