About the Role
As the Health and Safety Officer, you will support the delivery of safe and healthy workplaces across RFDS Victoria. Working closely with the WHS Manager, you'll assist with audits, investigations, training, and compliance activities to ensure our safety systems meet legislative and organisational standards.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Act as the main contact for WHS inquiries, provide guidance on WHS matters and escalate issues promptly
* Maintain a compliant WHS framework and coordinate internal audits
* Support workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations, including identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions
* Ensure accurate and timely completion of incident reports
* Analyse WHS data to identify trends and help drive continuous improvement
* Design and deliver safety training programs and stay updated on WHS legislation
To be successful, you will need:
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Certificate IV or higher in Workplace/Occupational Health and Safety (or related discipline)
* Strong understanding of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and compliance frameworks
* Knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies, and control measures
* Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Riskman, and safety management systems
* Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a current National Police Check, Driver's License, and the right to work in Australia
* Desirable: Mental Health First Aid Certification; Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; experience in NEPT or community health environments
