The Opportunity
This is a lead role, not just a build role.
As Lead WordPress Developer, you'll take ownership of how WordPress is architected, built, and optimised across AdTorque Edge. You'll set standards, guide execution, and ensure every site we launch performs at the level our clients expect.
You'll move beyond "delivery" into platform thinking — building scalable, high-performing websites that integrate seamlessly with media, data, and CRM ecosystems.
You'll work closely with strategy, design, and performance teams, acting as the technical authority that turns insight into fast, reliable execution.

What You'll Do
Technical Leadership & Ownership
* Own the WordPress development standard across the agency — architecture, performance, security, and scalability.
* Lead technical decisions on themes, frameworks, plugins, and integrations.
* Review code and builds to ensure quality, consistency, and performance best practices.
Build & Optimisation
* Design, build, and maintain high-performing WordPress websites focused on conversion, scalability, and speed.
* Develop custom themes, templates, and reusable components aligned to brand systems.
* Optimise Core Web Vitals, technical SEO, mobile performance, and accessibility.
* Implement tracking, forms, and integrations (CRM, analytics, marketing platforms).
Collaboration & Enablement
* Partner with strategists, designers, and performance marketers to translate strategy into execution.
* Guide and mentor other developers (or contractors) as the team scales.
* Continuously improve existing client sites through testing, iteration, and optimisation.

What You'll Bring
* 5+ years hands-on WordPress development experience, including ownership of complex builds.
* Strong PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills (custom development over page-builder dependency).
* Proven experience with performance optimisation, technical SEO, and Core Web Vitals.
* Deep familiarity with ACF, custom post types, and modern WordPress workflows.
* A strong understanding of how websites support marketing funnels, lead quality, and UX.
* Confidence making technical decisions and communicating them clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
* High standards, attention to detail, and the ability to balance speed with long-term quality.
