Accountant Job Opportunity
This is a challenging and rewarding role for an experienced Accountant to join our finance team. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial accounting functions of our organisation, including the preparation of financial statements, management of financial reporting, accounts payable and receivables, and payroll.
* The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and non-profit accounting procedures.
* Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and audit management.
* Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to motivate and guide junior finance staff.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, and hold a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA Australia, CA ANZ). A minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting, with supervisory or management experience desirable.
Key Responsibilities
As an Accountant, your key responsibilities will include:
* Overseeing the preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.
* Assisting with the preparation of financial reports to management, highlighting key financial metrics and providing insights for decision-making.
* Maintaining all financial records in accordance with relevant standards and internal policies.
* Providing expert guidance to team members across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
* Supporting the development of team capability by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and contributing to a collaborative learning environment.
The Accountant will also be responsible for:
* Preparing and reviewing EFT, outgoing invoices, and payroll runs.
* Assisting in the preparation and management of program budgets, including monitoring and working with program managers in relation to actual performance against budgeted figures.
* Providing support in financial forecasting, identifying trends, and making recommendations for cost-saving measures and revenue enhancement.
* Assisting with the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and providing necessary documentation.
* Managing monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, and resolving any discrepancies.
* Supporting management in strategic financial planning, including financial modelling and analysis of potential business opportunities.
